eBook Review: Little House in the Big Woods

Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The blurb: Laura Ingalls and her family live deep in the Big Woods of Wisconsin. Their log cabin is surrounded by miles of trees, and their closest neighbors are bears, wolves, and panthers. Daily chores keep Laura and her sister Mary busy, but they still find time to go exploring with their dog, Jack.

My review: I’ve never read the books, but I did watch the TV series – many years ago, and enjoyed it. I expected to really enjoy the books and couldn’t wait to read them (once I found them).

But the pleasure was short lived. I found the books lacking in so many ways. Maybe it is because I’m older and wiser, or maybe there’s another reason, but it was difficult to read the books.

I know the books were written some time ago, and I automatically make allowances for that. My issues was that the character were stiff, and I found it hard to stay within the pages, let alone the world of Laura Ingalls and her family.

The end of the book came and I feel no compulsion to race out and get the next one. It’s a shame because I feel as if I really should have enjoyed them.
